“Kaitlin is the best! My three children have been fortunate to work with Kaitlin over the years with lessons ranging from audition prep to acting, including introduction to voice training. I’m always amazed how Kaitlin is able to adapt to each person’s needs and keeps it fun and engaging.”

Are you looking to prepare for your upcoming auditions? Or maybe this is your first time ever taking on an audition! Are you just seeking general guidance that will help you grow in your craft? Hello, my name is Kaitlin, or you can call me Kait! I have been an independent Acting, Auditioning, and Voice Coach for years, and it is what I am most passionate about when it comes to theatre education.

Here is a little background about me….I have been working and auditioning professionally as an actress for years since studying Theatre and Dance at California University of PA in 2010. I’ve also had years of experience teaching privately, in class, and in workshop settings with Columbus Children’s Theatre in Columbus, Ohio. I made the move back home to PA in the middle of the pandemic and continued teaching via ZOOM with Mon Valley Performing Arts Academy (California, PA). Now I teach with Pittsburgh CLO Academy located in Pittsburgh, PA as well as direct for their summer season camps. Directing credits include Annie Kids and Legally Blonde the Musical Jr.

Next up, Finding Nemo Kids!!

PRIVATE LESSON INFORMATION

Currently, I offer lessons for 30, 45, or 60 minutes at $1 per minute online via Zoom. (I hope that one day I can offer lessons at home or maybe have my own studio for lessons. Goals!) A complimentary 15 minutes will be added to your first lesson with me. This is a chance for you, me, and your child to get to know one another and discuss my coaching style. I accept payment through Venmo and PayPal.

I coach theatrical actors who are looking to better their skills in acting, singing, and auditioning. If you identify yourself as one or all of these, please register on my contact page! When filling out your submission, please share the following:

  • your theatre story

  • if you are interested in scheduling on a weekly or bi-weekly basis

  • days and times that work best for you

  • and how you heard about me!

Being a working actor myself, my motto as a teacher is to “preach what I practice.” Working with me, my students will be coached using intermediate to advanced character development and study through monologue and musical theatre pieces. Other forms of audition preparation are exercising quick retention through memorization, refreshing your vocal technique while implementing your acting tactics, updating your “audition book,” and practicing focus and improv skills through callback scene settings. And now, I offer self-taping guidance, both in preparation and during recording time!

If you are in the Pittsburgh area and are more interested in working onsite/in person, please consider registering for lessons through Pittsburgh CLO Academy, and you can work with me there! Just follow this link CLO Academy Registration and call 412-281-2234 if you have any questions. Ask for Patty!

Thank you for considering me as your kiddos performance coach! I look forward to being a part of their journey!

Peace,

Kaitlin “Kait” Marie Slaney

“In 2016 my daughter had her first acting lesson with Kaitlin, as she wanted to audition for a couple of local shows. Kaitlin was so helpful (and kind!) in teaching my young daughter and preparing her for the audition process. In the six years since the two have worked on her acting (and reacting!), audition prep, call-back coaching, acting through song, vocal work - you name it, I'm sure they've covered it! They've done lessons in person and over Zoom, and both have been highly effective in my daughter being the actor she is today.

My daughter will be going to college in the fall, where she plans to minor in musical theatre, and will continue her audition and character work with Kaitlin. I think the best part is how Kaitlin is always prepared for a lesson, and tailors each session to the student's specific goals. Can't recommend her enough!”

“My daughter took her very first acting/singing class with Kaitlin at the age of 8.  As a mother with no theater or voice background Kaitlin came to the rescue.  My daughter knew she wanted to perform but didn’t know how to audition and Kaitlin really guided her to become a confident kid in the audition room.  My daughter is now 14 and is still performing and Kaitlin is still one of her mentors.  Kaitlin is a caring and knowledgeable private instructor who will guide your child in both singing and acting to the next level!!”
